Hello! I am Dr. Chayoung Kang, the Director of Noselab Cliinic.

Today, I would like to introduce a case of bulbous nose correction combined with short chin surgery. The patient came to our clinic to improve the appearance of a wide, bulbous nose and to correct a receding chin.

Preoperative Diagnosis of Bulbous Nose and Short Chin

  1. The nose tip was wide and bulbous.

  2. The nose bridge was flat in comparison to the nose tip, and the nose looked short in general.

  3. The glablela was flat and the nasal bone looked narrow and asymmetrical, with an overall crooked appearance.

  4. Seen from the front, and looking at the nasal base, the nasal alar and the nostrils present asymmetry.

  5. The chin was short and small, it appeared to be receding.

Surgical Plan for Bulbous Nose Correction

  1. Correct the bulbous nose using the self-rib cartilage.

  2. Using a silicone implant on the nose bridge to connect it to the nose tip in a natural-looking manner.

  3. Correct the deviated nasal bone thorugh an external osteotomy.

  4. Correct the receding chin by positioning the silicone implant towards the mouth.

Before and After Surgery Photos

From the lateral view, we can observe the blunt nose tip has become slimmer, and the columella was slightly lowered, enhancing the nasolabial angle. The short chin became more natural-looking.

Before and after bulbous nose correction with chin surgery – side profile showing slimmer nasal tip, lowered columella, and more natural chin projection

On the 45-degree angle, the previousl wide nose tip can be observed to have improved in appearance, especially the shape of the chin can be observed differently.

Before and after bulbous nose correction with chin surgery – 45-degree oblique view highlighting refined nose tip and improved chin contour

From the front, the deviated and asymmetric appearance was improved.

Before and after bulbous nose correction with chin surgery – frontal view showing corrected nasal deviation, symmetry, and balanced proportions

The nostril asymmetry and the wide appearance has improved significantly.

Before and after bulbous nose correction – nostril view showing improved asymmetry and reduced wide nasal base

General Overview

Many people get rhinoplasty because they want to have a beautiful and attractive nose. However, it does not matter how beautiful a nose is if it does not fit well with the facial proportions, there will be many good points and bad points. That is why, there is no attarctive woman or man without distinctive facial features and good proportions.

For this reason, rhinoplasty can have a synergy effect with simple surgeries, such as facial fat grafting, nasolabial fold surgery and short chin surgery. Since this patient had a short chin, he had a short chin corrective surgery at the same time as a rhinoplasty, and the appearance post-surgery could be seen to be more balanced.

Today’s case was a bulbous nose corrective surgery and a short chin corrective surgery performed at the same time. I hope this text is helpful for those who want to heighten their noses and have a short chin.
