Hello, this is Dr. Cha-Young Kang, Director of Nose Lab Clinic.
Today, I’d like to share the rhinoplasty case of a 26-year-old male patient who sought to address his short and low nasal bridge, as well as breathing issues. This case emphasizes the importance of customized nasal augmentation, tailored to suit the unique structure of the male face.
1. Patient Information and Goals
Design Consultation: Frontal View, Left Oblique Side View, and Side View
Patient Information:
Age: 26, Male
Patient Goals:
Enhance a nose that appears low and small in proportion to the face
Address nasal obstruction for better breathing
Achieve an overall increase in nasal height with a natural appearance
2. Pre-Surgical Analysis
Design Consultation: Right Side View, Oblique Side View, and Nostril View
Front View:
Short nose with a low nasal bridge
Wide and rounded nasal tip
Side View:
Protruding brow bone, low nasal bridge near the brow
Mild dorsal hump with a slightly drooping tip
Nostril View:
Broad and rounded nostrils with a less defined nasal tip
3. Surgical Plan and Procedure
To achieve a balanced, proportional result, the following plan was set:
Septoplasty: Correcting septal deviation to improve nasal airflow.
Radiofrequency Turbinate Reduction: Reducing turbinate size for improved breathing.
Partial Septal Reconstruction: The septum was unexpectedly thin and deviated, requiring additional reinforcement.
Septal Extension Graft with Autologous Rib Cartilage: Lifting and stabilizing the nasal tip for better definition and projection.
Nasal Tip Refinement: Reshaping the alar cartilage and suturing to create a more defined, less rounded tip.
Silicone Implant for Nasal Bridge: Carefully carving the implant to match the height of the patient’s brow bone for a cohesive look.
Hump Reduction: Smoothing out the dorsal hump to create a straight, natural contour

Front View: A taller, more refined nose with improved symmetry and a better-defined tip.
Side View: Smooth transition from brow bone to nasal bridge, removal of the hump, and an elevated nasal tip, resulting in a natural, straight profile.
Nostril View: Reduced nostril width and a more streamlined nasal tip.
Immediately After Surgery: Frontal, Side, and Oblique Side Views
Immediately After Surgery: Nostril View
Key Considerations for Rhinoplasty in Male Patients
For men with a prominent brow bone and low nasal bridge, it’s crucial to sculpt the nasal implant carefully to align with the brow height, minimizing the gap between implant and bone. This helps prevent complications such as implant shifting or inflammation, and contributes to a natural look.
In cases where the nose is short and lacks definition, a multifaceted approach is essential. Simply increasing height is insufficient; balance across the entire face, improved function, and targeted corrections (like dorsal hump removal and tip refinement) are all necessary for an optimal outcome.
Final Thoughts
This case highlights that rhinoplasty for shorter, smaller noses on the male face requires a sophisticated approach that blends aesthetic goals with functional corrections. By addressing the patient’s nasal obstruction, increasing nasal height, and refining the nasal tip, we achieved a harmonious result.
At Nose Lab Clinic, we analyze each patient’s facial characteristics with care and precision to create natural, cohesive results. If you’re considering rhinoplasty, be sure to consult with an expert who can recommend the best approach for your unique features.
Thank you,
Dr. Cha-Young Kang, Director of Nose Lab Clinic
