Deviated and hump nose_Rhinoplasty Korea

1. Pre-surgery design

This patient came to my clinic to correct nasal congestion and a deviated nose. The CT taken at the time of the visit showed septal displacement to the left, and overall, the inner left space was significantly narrowed.

2. Surgery Plan

An outer osteotomy was planned to correct the deviated nose, and to improve the nasal congestion, septal deviation correction and mucosal resection of the turbinates were planned.

4. General review

This was a corrective surgery for a deviated nose. I believe that the most important thing in a deviated nose corrective surgery is to design considering the cases in which the shape of the nose is bending, and when it is due to facial asymmetry that some parts look like they are bent. 

Everyone has a little of facial asymmetry, and someone people have more sever asymmetry than expected. Fixing a bent nose is important since the nose is at the center of the face, and it is the highest structure, emphasizing the bent appearance. The nose can be divided in parts, the big nasal bone area (including the nose bump) and the cartilage parts (below the nose bump), so we can see and divide the bent parts divided as: the nasal bone, the part where the bone and the cartilage meet, and the cartilage.

The bending of the nasal bone parts can be corrected through a surgery method called osteotomy. This patient also had severe nasal bone asymmetry to the left, so the bent nose was corrected through an external osteotomy. Also, in the case of the bending cartilage parts, they can be fixed through a spreader graft, placing straight and strong cartilage on both sides of the septal cartilage of the nasal dorsum.
