Hello, this is Dr. Cha-Young Kang, Chief Director of NoseLab Plastic Surgery in Seoul.

Today, I’d like to share a case of primary rhinoplasty, where the goal was to create a natural and refined nasal line that complements the patient’s overall facial harmony.

Patient Background and Goals for Primary Rhinoplasty

This was the patient’s first nose surgery. She wanted subtle refinement and emphasized natural beauty over dramatic change.

She hoped to:

  • Achieve a smooth, elegant nasal bridge using a silicone implant if needed

  • Refine the nasal tip for better definition

  • Reduce nostril visibility in the frontal view

  • Maintain facial harmony without looking “over-operated”

She also had mild rhinitis and wished for improved breathing after surgery.

Surgical Plan – Achieving a Natural Nose Line

1. Nasal Bridge Enhancement with Silicone Implant A silicone implant of moderate height was selected to match her facial proportions. The dorsal line was refined to appear smooth and natural, maintaining an elegant transition from forehead to tip.

2. Nasal Tip Refinement Using Septal and Donated Rib Cartilage Septal cartilage provided foundational support, and donated rib cartilage added height and stability. This combination allowed for a refined yet natural tip contour that remains stable long-term.

3. Nasolabial Angle Adjustment The nostril exposure was minimized from the frontal view, and the nasolabial angle was designed for a graceful, feminine curvature.

4. Functional Rhinoplasty Septoplasty and submucosal resection of inferior turbinates were performed to enhance airflow and relieve rhinitis symptoms. Surgical Results and Functional Improvement

1. Natural Aesthetic Balance

A soft, elegant nasal line was achieved, harmonizing seamlessly with her facial features.

Expert Insights on Primary Rhinoplasty

A primary rhinoplasty may appear simpler than revision cases, but achieving a truly natural result requires precise planning and subtle design.

In this case, combining a moderate silicone bridge with septal and donated rib cartilage created a result that looks natural and elegant from every angle.

Many patients desire reduced nostril visibility — a goal best achieved through careful adjustment of the nasolabial angle. Too much lowering can cause a droopy appearance, so maintaining balance is key.

Donated rib cartilage eliminates the need for harvesting, reduces operation time, and ensures quick recovery. When paired with septal cartilage, it provides both stability and a natural aesthetic.

By integrating functional rhinoplasty, patients benefit not only from aesthetic refinement but also from improved breathing and overall comfort.

At NoseLab Plastic Surgery, we prioritize safety, precision, and natural beauty in every primary rhinoplasty, tailoring each plan to match the individual’s unique features.
