Hello, this is Dr. Cha-Young Kang, Medical Director at Nose Lab Clinic.

Today, I’d like to share a nasal tip translucency correction, upturned nose correction, natural nasal tip refinement case involving a patient who had long struggled with these issues and excessive nostril exposure.

##Nasal Tip Translucency Correction and Upturned Nose Correction: A Natural Nasal Tip Refinement Case

  • 10 years ago: Hyaluronic acid nasal filler (removed during current surgery)

  • 2015: Silicone implant + ear cartilage graft

  • 2018: Cartilage exposure correction using ear dermis graft (residual translucency remained)

Functional Concerns

  • Chronic rhinitis symptoms (nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing)

Aesthetic Concerns

  • Collapsed appearance on the left side of the nose

  • Tip translucency despite prior correction

  • Upturned nasal tip

  • Visible nostrils

  • Mild nasal deviation

✨ Patient Goals

The Desired Images of the Patient
  • Improve left nasal compression and cartilage visibility

  • Lower nasal tip projection naturally

  • Correct upturned nasal tip

  • Reduce nostril exposure

  • Correct deviated nose

💉 Surgical Approach

Tip Correction

  • Complete removal of residual filler

  • Natural lowering of nasal tip projection

  • Correction of left nasal collapse and residual translucency

Structural Reconstruction

  • Nasal tip surgery using autologous rib cartilage

  • Correction of upturned nasal tip

  • Realignment of deviated nose

  • Reduction of nostril exposure

Functional Treatment

  • Septoplasty and submucosal turbinate reduction via radiofrequency to treat chronic rhinitis

This patient had long-standing concerns about nasal tip translucency, particularly on the left side, following previous surgeries. Despite prior dermal grafting, the issue persisted, indicating the need for a deeper structural correction.

During surgery, we discovered and completely removed residual filler from a decade-old injection, establishing a clean base for reconstruction. Our primary goal was to lower the nasal tip projection to achieve a softer, more natural look, as specifically requested by the patient.

Using autologous rib cartilage, we reconstructed the nasal tip to provide durable support and prevent future translucency. We also corrected the upturned nasal tip and reduced excessive nostril exposure by adjusting the tip’s rotation and projection. The deviated nasal structure was finely realigned to create a more balanced appearance.

Functionally, the patient’s chronic rhinitis symptoms were significantly improved through septoplasty and turbinate reduction, enhancing nasal airflow and overall comfort.

What made this case especially meaningful was the patient’s clear desire for a refined but understated result. By carefully honoring this request, we achieved a highly personalized outcome that was both aesthetically pleasing and functionally sound.

Thank you,
