Hello! I am Dr. Chayoung Kang, the Director of Noselab Clinic.

From all the patients who visit our clinic, around 30% to 40% of them want to correct a bulbous nose. According to research comparing the shape of Asian and Western noses, Asian noses generally have thick skin, small and thin cartilage, and less developed nasal bones compared to Western noses. In summary, Asian noses are typically smaller and more bulbous.

This case is about a patient who had a big, blunt, and droopy bulbous nose, which we corrected with Bulbous Nose Rhinoplasty in Korea.

Preoperative Design Consultation

Seen from the front, the glabella was flat and the nasal bone, despite being small, it was wide. The nose tip was blunt and wide as well. The nasal bone was asymmetric and large. The nose in general looked plain and wide, giving it the appearance of a bulbous nose.

On the right side, we can observe the most noticeable parts is the nose is blunt and droopy. The glabella is flta and plain, making the nasal alar look characteristically large.

In the nostril photo, we can observe the asymmetry of the nose tip, which is leaning to the left side, as well as the tilted columella.

Surgical Plan for Bulbous Nose Rhinoplasty

This is a typical bulbous nose corrective surgery. To reduce the skin thickness, we planned tro remove some subcutaneous tissue, and sharply tying up the alar cartilage, heighthening the nose tip sturdily. To avoid the nose tip from looking too tall, we would match the height of nose bridge and the tip in a natural-looking manner, and giving it an overall three-dimensional effect.

Before vs After Surgery Photos

In the photo before the surgery, the nose tip did not look slim, and in the photos after surgery, we can observe the nose tip is higher, which makes the nasolabial angle look wider, and compared to the pre-surgery appearance, the nose has become more refined.

In the 45-degree angle photo, we can see that the nose has become slimmer.

From the front, the bent-looking nose has improved in appearance. Before the surgery, the highest point of the nose was not specific, however, after the surgery, the highest point of the nose is differentiated. Also, the shape of the nostrils has become more natural-looking.

In the nostril photo, we can see that the asymmetry of the nostrils was improved, and that the skin proportion has also improved as the nose tip width was reduced.

Today we talked about a corrective surgery for a bulbous nose. I hope this blog will be helpful for anyone who is thinking about getting bulbous nose corrective surgery.
