Hello, this is Dr. Cha-Young Kang, Director of Nose Lab Clinic.

Today, I’ll discuss an important case of Deviated Nose Correction, combined with nostril lowering. This functional and aesthetic rhinoplasty was performed for a patient struggling with a deviated, upturned nose, aiming to achieve a natural and balanced appearance.

Patient Background and Goals in Deviated Nose Correction

  • 2020: Initial surgery for a deviated nose using ear cartilage and silicone implant

  • 2023: Additional tip surgery with pig cartilage

Current goals included:

  • Deviated Nose Correction to realign the bridge

  • Lowering the nasal tip to reduce nostril exposure

  • Maintaining the existing bridge height

  • Resolving nasal obstruction

Pre-Surgical Analysis for Deviated Nose Correction

  • Front View: The tip deviated left, with nostril asymmetry

  • Side View: Elevated tip created an exaggerated nasolabial angle

  • Nostril View: Columella tilted left, worsening asymmetry

Surgical Plan for Deviated Nose Correction and Nostril Lowering

To meet these goals, we designed a comprehensive surgical approach:

  • Septal Extension Graft using donor rib cartilage

  • Septal Reconstruction if required for support

  • Nostril lowering as part of Deviated Nose Correction

  • Nasolabial angle adjustment for facial harmony

  • Mucosal adhesion release to improve airflow

Post-Surgical Results After Deviated Nose Correction

  • Front: Nasal tip was centered, reducing nostril visibility and asymmetry

  • Side: The bridge starting point was lowered, tip balanced, and angle corrected

  • Nostril: Columella straightened, nostril symmetry significantly improved

Conclusion – Importance of Deviated Nose Correction in Rhinoplasty

For patients with structural cartilage damage, Deviated Nose Correction with septal reconstruction is critical for stable alignment. Without addressing this foundation, repeated surgeries may not resolve deviation or asymmetry.
